PhotoRec is a Windows program that was created to recover damaged and deleted data. The utility can work with any type of information, including text documents, video clips, pictures and so on. The program has two interface options: command line and graphical window. The user can switch between them at will.

The essence of the utility

Every user may face a situation when important data were damaged or accidentally erased from the drive. Since the deletion of files does not mean their complete disappearance from the medium, then with the help of this program you can restore the information. To detect such data, the computer utility scans the physical drive. As a result, the user is offered a list of files that can be recovered and used as before.

Thanks to this, the user can regain access to music tracks, videos, text materials, electronic presentations, pictures and much more. To start the recovery process, a person first needs to run a scan of the available storage. After that, the computer program will offer a list of found files. The user will only have to select what he needs to restore and specify the place where the data will be stored after their return to their original form. The last step is to click on the appropriate icon in the menu or enter a special command. This depends on the type of interface used.
