BigBlueButton

BigBlueButton is a plugin for the popular CMS WordPress. You can use the site to organize conferences with screen sharing and presentation output. There is a recording function, as well as the ability to create private and group chats to discuss various topics.

Installation and customization

The module supports engine versions 5.1 and older. The component is installed according to the standard scheme. You need to log in to the admin panel, open the "Plugins" section and enter the desired name in the search bar. Next to the plugin description there will be a button for installation. After activation, you can proceed to the creation of the first room for the conference. To do this, just open the "Rooms" panel and select the "Add new" option - the initial configuration panel will open. You can add explanatory text, graphics, choose a design style. It is possible to choose from a catalog of different widgets, collecting the desired functionality. In particular, you can add a news feed, a block with social network buttons, comments and much more. After selecting the components and customizing them, you need to click "Publish" to create the room.

Holding a conference

All work is performed within the browser, participants do not need to install additional software. The plug-in realizes all the advantages of Flash technology and provides the following functionality:

• outputting presentations based on the PowerPoint format;
• publishing documents that can be opened by other participants;
• camera and microphone are used for broadcasting;
• creation of chat rooms with different levels of access;
• exchange of text messages and files;
• recording lectures to a file.

The presenter can use special tools to draw on the screen, using it as an interactive whiteboard. There is a virtual pointer function, which also facilitates the process of presenting material.
