Birdfont

Birdfont application allows you to create and edit fonts. All necessary tools are provided. User-friendly interface and auxiliary elements allow you to quickly get used to the application.

Coding and creating a new font

After launching the program, you can proceed to the creation of a new project by clicking on the corresponding button. If you need to edit an existing package, it should be opened through the menu, indicating the desired file in Explorer. In the latter case, the encoding panel opens at once. At the same time, uppercase and lowercase letters are available in the menu, and it is also possible to work with additional characters from the set. If you need to extend the standard package, you need to click the Unicode button. This will open a panel where you can specify the required encoding.

Editing and exporting a project

All available tools are grouped into categories for convenience. If you want to draw the required symbols yourself, you should select the Drawing Tools function. The Guidelines and Grid tool is used to select the layout of the workspace. A separate Control Points panel allows you to develop new symbols and control the main parameters. For convenience of working in manual mode, it is recommended to change the display format at once. After the work is completed, the resulting font can be exported for further use. Description of available functions and interface elements can be found in the help section. There is a selection of useful materials and technical information about fonts. A navigation bar is provided to quickly move to the desired section.
